Dubh Linn

This was my shortlisted entry for a competition called 'uniquely Dublin' , the brief was to create a piece of art to encapsulate Dublin. Rather than trying to pick one thing to represent the city I tried to mix multiple different aspects of the city into a surreal mish mash in the general shape of a viking ship ! I've included some close ups below also.

Close up - Some sort of hybrid between the Conference Centre, the Luas and a Night club !

Close up - Patrick Kavanagh at the canal availing of the free Wifi.

Close up- In order to make the head of the Viking ship I mixed the top of the Custom House, the arms from the Jim Larkin statue , the Wellington Monument and a deer's head from Phoenix Park.

Close up - Of course Joyce had to be in there but on one of the modern CIty Bikes.

Close up - The Stern of the ship is created with a representation of Dublin Airport.

Close up - A Dublin GAA player kicking a ball through a pair of chimney stacks in the shape of the Ringsend towers.
